Resilient Barangay program launched in Muntinlupa

The city government of Muntinlupa, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and National Resilience Council, launched the Resilient Barangay Program and the Muntinlupa Resilience Council on August 7.

The city was chosen to be the pilot local government unit for the program that will use a scientific-based approach through the lead agencies, CCAR-PH, Manila Observatory, NRC, and other partners. Barangay chairmen expressed their support in the implementation of the program that aimed to improve disaster resilience of communities.

Attending the ceremony were Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, City Administrator Engr. Allan Cachuela, DILG-NCR assistant regional director Juan Juvian Ingeniero, National Resilience Council president Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, Coastal Cities at Risk in the Philippine project lead Dr. Emma Porio, Muntinlupa City DRRMO chief Erwin Alfonso, PLMun president Dr. Ellen Presnedi, and other local officials.
