PCOO praise Muntinlupa gov't for the establishment of brgy info officers’ network
Presidential Communications Operations Office secretary Martin Andanar cites the initiatives of the local government of Muntinlupa in grassroots communication and for the establishment of the country’s first local active barangay information officers’ network.
Andanar confers certificates of recognition to Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and Muntinlupa Public Information Officer Tez Valencia-Navarro for piloting in the creation of a local communication officers’ group serving as one of the agency’s arm in disseminating government programs.
PCOO recognizes the initiative as a best practice in communications applied to community development.
Muntinlupa Barangay Information Officers network is composed of 50 information officers from the city’s nine barangays and offices of the City Government of Muntinlupa.
Public Information Officer Tez Valencia-Navarro created the group on 2014 and it has been consistently assisting the City Government in facilitating information and education campaigns.
PCOO also lauds Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi for the local exec’s assistance to the national government’s thrust in transparency and full public disclosure of information through adherence to the Freedom of Information (FOI) mechanism.
Fresnedi is also cited for his support in strengthening the local information officers’ network and other initiatives on development communication.
PCOO, through the Philippine Information Agency, is set to install a satellite office in Muntinlupa which shall serve as an Information Center in the South hub.
