The local government of Muntinlupa launches the Safety Seal Certification Program in a bid to increase compliance of private establishments with minimum public health standards (MPHS) set by the national government.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and other government officials led the launching of the certification program and a turn-over ceremony of Safety Seal to Ayala Malls (Alabang Town Center) on June 11. ATC is the first mall in Muntinlupa to receive the Safety Seal after completing all the requirements as prescribed by the DOLE-DOH-DILG-DOT-DTI Joint Memorandum Circular 21-01 series of 2021.

Fresnedi urged private business owners to apply for the safety certification as it helps assure the public that their establishments are compliant with health protocols and it will be vital for the safe reopening of the economy.

Other officials attending the ceremony were Congressman Ruffy Biazon, DILG Asec. Francisco Cruz, DILG Muntinlupa director Bing Ferino, Ayala Land Malls Inc. president Christopher Maglanoc, Ayala Land Malls Inc. South Area Head Veronica Arcenas, Ayala Land Inc. VP and Head of External Affairs Dindo Fernando, City Health Officer Dr. Juancho Bunyi, Local Economic and Investment Promotions Officer Gary Llamas, and PNP Muntinlupa chief Melecio Buslig Jr, among others.

The Safety Seal ensures the public that an establishment is strictly implementing MPHS in their stores and workplaces, such as proper wearing of face shields and face masks, and disinfection. The certification program also requires establishments to use the contact tracing system of StaySafe.ph.

Pursuant to JMC 21-01, local government units issue the Safety Seal to the following establishments: malls, wet market, other retail store, restaurant outside hotels/resorts, fast food, eateries, coffee shop, bank, money changer, remittance center, car wash, laundry service center, art gallery, library, museum, zoo, sports center, tutorial, testing and review center, gym, spa, cinema, arcade, and all other private establishments.

Private establishments in Muntinlupa may apply to the program through the city’s website https://www.muntinlupacity.gov.ph. The business owner/authorized representative shall accomplish the Safety Seal Application Form using either the google form embedded or the downloadable version. For the printed application, a scanned copy should be emailed to muntinlupacitysafetyseal@gmail.com. Upon submission of application, the local government will schedule an inspection to the concerned establishment.

Once assessed as compliant, a digital copy of the Safety Seal will be sent to the establishment. Otherwise, establishments may apply for reassessment after correcting deficiencies and following recommendations by the Issuing Authority. A printed version of the Safety Seal should be displayed conspicuously at all entrance points to the establishment.

The recipient establishment is expected to ensure continuous compliance to the minimum public health standard, including the use of StaySafe.ph. The Safety Seal is valid for six (6) months, but may be revoked within that period upon due notice by the local government when violations of the MPHS are committed.

For more information, owners of business establishments in the city may send an email to muntinlupacitysafetyseal@gmail.com.
