Modern jeepneys to ply Alabang, Bulacan towns
Forty modern PUVs will soon serve the commuting public in Alabang and Bulacan as truck manufacturer Isuzu Philippines Corp. turned them over to two transport cooperatives.
IPC turned over 24 units Class 2 Modern PUV to the Alabang Transport Service Cooperative (ATSC) and 16 units more to the Sampol Bulacan Sta Maria Meycauayan Transport Service Cooperative (SBSMM TSC) in Bulacan. Most of them have bodies manufactured and assembled by truck body builder Centro Manufacturing Corporation.
ATSC is one of the oldest and biggest cooperatives in Muntinlupa and has grown steadily since its founding in 1975. ATSC Chairman Bienvenido Barra said that the PUVs will immediately be deployed to the Las Pinas to Paranaque to Alabang route. "As our cooperative grows, we are assured that through the newly-acquired Isuzu Modern PUVs, we are able to promote development of the transport service here in Alabang, improve its quality, ensure the safety of our commuters, and serve our mission to the community of Muntinlupa".
The SBSMM TSC in Bulacan, led by its chairwoman Mrs. Elizabeth C. Dolendo-Villacruz, is the first cooperative in Region 3 to comply with the PUV Modernization Program. The Modern PUV units will soon ply routes covering major cities in Bulacan through San Jose Del Monte, Sta. Maria, Marilao, Bocaue, and Meycauayan.
Isuzu PUVs are powered by Euro 4 diesel engines to deliver powerful driving performance, high durability, comfort, convenience, and good transport quality. They are also equipped with an air-conditioning unit by Coolaire, CCTV and dashcam, GPS tracking system, and automated electronic fare collection system, all for the safety, comfort, and convenience of the riding public.
Centro President Raffy Juan adds that Isuzu and Centro are glad that there is a growing number of transport cooperatives like ATSC and SBSMM TSC who trust the two brands. “We are confident that we will be able to deliver the benefits of the government’s PUV Modernization Program. Our Modern PUVs can also be provided with PWD-friendly features for the convenience of differently-abled commuters”.
He also assures the commuting public that their Modern PUV bodies are fully compliant to PNS 2126 standards of the Bureau of Philippine Standards. “With Isuzu as our partner, we have fully committed to support the PUV Modernization Program by providing the vehicle solutions. And we will continue to do so by developing more Isuzu products in the different classes of the Modern PUV”.
