Fresnedi warns “protectors” who interfere in Muntinlupa clearing ops
Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi warned alleged “protectors” of individuals parking on illegal areas and selling products in sidewalks.
Fresnedia told them not to meddle with the clearing operations conducted by the local government.
Fresnedi stressed in a meeting of Muntinlupa Task Force Discipline (TFD), an inter-agency body committed in the removal of obstructions on public roads and sidewalks, that the City Government of Muntinlupa means business in adhering to President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to “reclaim public spaces.”
The local exec presided the TFD meeting on August 5 together with DILG Assistant Secretary for Plans and Programs Francisco Cruz and all nine Muntinlupa barangay chairmen. Members of TFD presented updates of activities carried out by the task force.
Cruz recognized Muntinlupa’s efforts in the removal of illegal structures, illegally-parked vehicles, and illegal vending. The DILG exec encouraged all TFD members, including the barangays, BFP and PNP, to work together in conducting the clearing operations.
From July 1-31, the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau recorded 57 apprehensions for illegal vending, 335 vehicles were impounded, towed, and clamped, while 206 were apprehended for illegal parking. Further, the local traffic bureau also intensified its anti-illegal counter flow campaign recording 364 apprehensions in the same operation schedule.
Consultation meetings with affected groups such as Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association and Vendors Association are also being conducted to ensure sustainability of the clearing operations.
TFD will continue to carry out its operations and beautification program in the coming days.
Muntinlupa City is one with the National Government in the clearing of all obstructions and rehabilitation of public roads.
