The City of Muntinlupa began its two-day celebration of Responsible-18 or R-18 Month last February 24 at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex. This is in accordance with City Ordinance No. 19-038, which designates the month of February as a time to celebrate Muntinlupeños who have reached the age of emancipation or 18 years old.

The local government of Muntinlupa, through the Youth Affairs and Sports Development Office (YASDO), has prepared programs to emphasize to 18-year-olds that they are now part of the adult community and can contribute to the development of the city.

Today's activities included an Adulting 101 Seminar, Dance and Singing Competition, and other programs for around 2005 participants.

The event was also attended by representatives from Lingkod Muntinlupa Foundation, the Schools Division Office-Muntinlupa, and students from various junior and senior high schools in the city.

The celebration aims to remind 18-year-olds to be responsible members of society and to encourage them to actively participate in community development.

With this initiative, the City of Muntinlupa hopes to empower its young citizens to take an active role in creating a better future for their community.
