The Muntinlupa City Council has passed a resolution honoring Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello for providing III emergency employment programs to the city.

Through City Resolution 2021-549, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Muntinlupa expressed the local government’s gratitude to Labor Secretary Bello for “bringing to Muntinlupa City the Program Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa mga Displaced/Disadvantaged Persons thereby benefiting our constituents who are affected by the economic impact of the pandemic.”

DOLE has implemented the program thru the Office of Congressman Rozzano Ruffino Biazon and the local Public Employment Service Office (PESO). TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance through the Department of Labor and Employment that provides emergency employment for vulnerable individuals affected by the COVID-19 pandemic for a minimum period of ten (10) days.

Last October 23, DOLE held a ceremonial turn-over of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools that consisted of 50 pieces of wheel barrow, 250 pieces of pick mattocks, 250 pieces of shovel, 250 pairs of gloves, and 500 pieces of hard hats at the Muntinlupa Sports Center, Brgy. Tunasan.

The PPEs were donated by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and were distributed to DOLE’s TUPAD beneficiaries. This initiative aims to reduce work-related hazards during the conduct of various community-based projects that are implemented in close coordination with the LGUs.

Labor Secretary Bello III led the turn-over ceremony together with Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, Congressman Ruffy Biazon; Muntinlupa City Administrator, Engr. Allan A. Cachuela; Muntinlupa City PESO Manager Glenda Zamora-Aniñon, DOLE-Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns Director, Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla; DOLE-NCR Regional Director, Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol; and DOLE-NCR MUNTAPARLAS Field Office Director Leonides P. Castillon, Jr., NPU Director Ramon Navarra from the Office of Senator Risa Hontiveros, and other local officials.

Simultaneous with the ceremony, an orientation for the 45 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) and 236 beneficiaries of TUPAD was facilitated by PESO Manager Glenda Z. Aniñon. The activity was part of the pre-employment requirement to prepare the program recipients on their duties and responsibilities before their placement to their corresponding areas of assignment.
