Muntinlupa destroys carts confiscated from illegal vendors
The city government of Muntinlupa destroyed dozens of confiscated carts confiscated from illegal vendors after a month of road clearing efforts.
Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and DILG Assistant Secretary for Plans and Programs Francisco Cruz witnessed the destruction of the seized items together with other local execs and barangay chairmen last August 30 at Pacwood Site, Brgy. Tunasan.
Further, members of Muntinlupa Task Force Discipline conducted an inspection and clearing operations along NHA Southville 3, Katihan, Rizal, Baybayin (Poblacion to Bayanan), Bautista, Pleasant Rd, and Alabang Viaduct.
As of August 23, the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau recorded 906 apprehensions for illegal vending, while 763 illegally parked vehicle were impounded, towed, and clamped. The local traffic bureau also intensified its anti-illegal counter flow campaign to augment the local clearing operations.
Recently, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has warned alleged “protectors” of individuals parking on illegal areas and selling products in sidewalks to not meddle with the clearing operations conducted by the local government.
Fresnedi stressed that the City Government of Muntinlupa means business in adhering to President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to “reclaim public spaces.”
Consultation meetings with affected groups such as Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association and Vendors Association are also being conducted to ensure sustainability of the clearing operations.
Muntinlupa City is one with the National Government in the clearing of all obstructions and rehabilitation of public roads.
