Muntinlupa places 10th area under lockdown
With an alarming attack rate and narrow doubling time of only two days, or the number of days for COVID-19 cases to double in number, the local government of Muntinlupa has imposed a lockdown in a community in Brgy. Cupang on Saturday.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi ordered a 15-day Extreme Localized Community Quarantine (ELCQ) at Dizon Compound, Number 22, St. Bernard Street, San Jose Village, Brgy. Cupang starting 6:00 p.m. of August 28 until September 12, 6:00 p.m, the 10th area in the city to be put on lockdown.
Muntinlupa City Health Office head Dr. Juancho Bunyi said the imposition of ELCQ in the area was due to the alarming case doubling time of 2 days and a high attack rate of 967.74 per 10,000 population as of August 28.
To date, there are two confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in the compound and have been referred to Pacwood Isolation Facility in Brgy. Tunasan for admission. The remaining 60 residents of Dizon Compound have undergone swabbing test conducted by the Muntinlupa CHO.
The local health officer added that the community, with a total of 16 household, has high risk groups comprising of two children below five years old and three senior citizens, of which one elderly is a centenarian.
Muntinlupa PNP is set to enforce total lockdown measures in the area while the City Social Service Department and Barangay will provide food packs and other basic items for the affected residents during the effectivity of the ELCQ.
Other areas under lockdown in the city include: Mahogany St. and Kamagong St. in Villa Carolina 2, Brgy. Tunasan from August 24 to September 8, Building 2, BLISS Complex, Brgy. Putatan from August 23 to September 7, Building 17 in Filinvest Socialized Housing, Brgy. Alabang from August 19 to September 2, Angelo St., Horrileno St., Endencia St., Paredes St., and Barrera St. in Katarungan Village, Brgy. Poblacion from August 19 to September 2, Purok 3, Molera Compound in Barangay Sucat and Purok 7, Beatriz Compound, De Mesa L & B Street in Barangay Alabang from August 6 to August 27, Block 8, Hills View and Mangga St., Lakeview Homes in Barangay Putatan from August 12 to August 26 and Chico St., Laguerta in Barangay Tunasan under ELCQ from August 10 to August 25.
With the surge of COVID-19 cases in the communities, Mayor Fresnedi urges city residents to exercise extra caution and be more vigilant. The local exec urged the public to strictly observe minimum heath protocols such as wearing of face mask and face shield, physical distancing, and frequent handwashing.
Fresnedi also encouraged Muntinlupeños to get vaccinated and underscored the importance of vaccine as protection against COVID-19. City residents may register online through the city’s COVID-19 vaccination registration system via www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac.
As of August 28, Muntinlupa City has 19,424 confirmed cases with 16,497 recoveries, 2,492 active cases, 435 reported deaths, 52 suspect cases, and 3,477 probable cases.
