Adopting a Metro Manila Council resolution, the Muntinlupa City Council passed an ordinance on Monday amending the curfew hours that will be imposed in the city.

Majority Floor Leader Raul Corro said that the new curfew hours in Muntinlupa will be from 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM starting October 13. Previously, the imposed curfew in the city and in the whole Metro Manila is from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM.

Corro said shortening the curfew hours in Muntinlupa is based on the consensus of mayors belonging to the Metro Manila Council (MMC).

Metro Manila mayors signed MMDA Resolution No. 21-23 last October 10 setting a standardized and unified curfew hours.

The MMC acknowledged the need to adjust the curfew hours in light of “recent developments particularly the steady decrease of active cases in the Region.”

“The Metro Manila Council recognizes the imperative to gradually but cautiously open the economy in order to increase business activity, reduce unemployment and underemployment, and promote economic growth while at the same time equally being mindful of the paramount interests of public health and public safety,” the resolution stated.

As of October 11, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said the reproduction number in NCR decreased to 0.61 from 0.74 the week before, while the 7-day average decreased to less than 2,000.

While in Muntinlupa, the number of active cases decreased by 50 percent from 988 cases last October 1 to 491 cases last October 12.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi urged residents to continually observe minimum public health standards and not to be lenient despite such developments to avoid a future rise in active cases.

Further, the local exec encourage city residents to get vaccinated as protection against the severe effects of COVID-19 and register online through the city’s COVID-19 vaccination registration system via www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac.

As of October 1, the local government has administered a total of 606,098 vaccines. 332,517 individuals have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine or 86.2% of the target, while 277,940 individuals or 72% of the target have been fully vaccinated. Of the total number of vaccinated individuals, at least 13,075 (first dose) and 1,091 (second dose) were inoculated in Muntinlupa private companies.
