Muntinlupa signs partnership for job placement office

The local government of Muntinlupa partners with the Department of Labor and Employment – NCR (DOLE-NCR) for the creation of a Job Placement Office (JPO) in the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun), slated to be the first university-based employment hub in the Metro Manila.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi as the Chairman of the PLMUN Board of Regents instructed Public Employment Service Office manager Glenda Aniñon to coordinate with DOLE-NCR for the creation of the JPO under PLMUN.

The JPO will serve as an employment hub for the students and alumni of the local university and will extend its services to the MUNTAPARLAS (Muntinlupa- Taguig-Parañaque-Las Piñas) educational institutions as well.

Last October 7, DOLE-NCR regional director Atty. Sarah Mirasol signed a memorandum of agreement with Muntinlupa PESO manager Glenda Aniñon, PLMUN president Dr. Ellen Presnedi, PLMUN Registrar Assoc. Professor Ramonito Mesina, and DOLE MTPL FO Dir. Leonides Castillon Jr. as witnesses at PLMun, RLRC Building, Brgy. Poblacion.

Also joining the program include PLMUN Office of Student Affairs chief Melonie D. Mater, DOLE - NCR personnel Genevieve De Castro and Rey Sanglay, and DOLE-MUNTAPARLAS personnel CJ Torrecampo and Mary Chelsea Espinosa.

DOLE-NCR regional director Atty. Sarah Mirasol extended his gratitude to PLMun and Muntinlupa LGU for the partnership and said that the collaboration project will help in creating more employment opportunities for the students.

“With this partnership, we look forward to a more holistic approach in the implementation of DOLE’s youth-employment bridging program for the students of PLMun. Apart from our flagship programs for the youth, it is also essential that we continue working together in coming up with innovative programs for students that are aligned with the new normal,” Mirasol said.

DOLE-NCR offers the following youth-employment bridging programs: Labor Market Information advocacies through Career Guidance and Employment Coaching, Job Referral and Placement, Labor Education for Graduating Students, JobStart Life Skills Training Program, and Special Program for the Employment of Students.

Further, DOLE-NCR execs and local officials launched the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program for 436 beneficiaries last October 7.

Under the TUPAD program, displaced workers are employed to assist in various programs of the local government for a minimum period of ten (10) days. Beneficiaries shall receive a minimum daily wage amounting to 537 pesos.

This batch of TUPAD program is funded through congressional budget of Congressman Ruffy Biazon and will be deployed in public schools in Muntinlupa.

Cong. Biazon graced the orientation of TUPAD beneficiaries and vowed to support them through various social programs.

Recently, the local government also partnered with DOLE-NCR for the launching of Bikecination and Bigasan livelihood program for fully vaccinated workers coping with the effects of the pandemic and indigent city residents.

For the Bikecination project, 28 fully vaccinated beneficiaries who are parents/beneficiaries of child labor, micro-entrepreneur clients of the local Joint Resource Financing Program (JRFP), from 4Ps, and youth entrepreneurs under the Youth Affairs and Sports Development Office (YASDO) received a bike unit with accessories such as carrier bag, bottle, head gear, back and front light, vest, and rain coat.  They also received a cellphone unit with P5,000 prepaid load.

DOLE’s Bikecination project aims to provide an alternative source of income for informal sector workers or their next of kin under the A4 category who have received their COVID-19 vaccine.

The project targets to incentivize and encourage informal sector workers to get vaccinated to help in the country’s fight against this pandemic.

For the Bigasan livelihood program, 25 beneficiaries who are parents/beneficiaries of child labor each received eight 25 kilos sacks of rice worth P10,000.
