Vaccine ‘mix and match’ trial starts in Muntinlupa
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through the Philippine Society for Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (PSAAI), has started the COVID-19 vaccine ‘mix and match’ clinical study in Muntinlupa last November 22.
The study aims to determine the safety and immunogenicity of completing the vaccination series with different COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine platforms available in the Philippines.
Participating individuals should be 18 years old or older, have no history of confirmed COVID-19 infection prior to enrollment, have not received any COVID-19 vaccine previously, relatively healthy, and have a PhilHealth account. Clinical study participants undergo a COVID-19 RT-PCR test before the trial.
Last November 17, the Food and Drug Administration has approved the COVID-19 mix-and-match trials. DOST eyes 3,000 participants for the clinical study.
Other study sites for the vaccine mix-and-match trials include Marikina, Manila, Davao City, and Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
