All Pasig roads to be opened to motorists
All roads in Pasig City should be opened to motorists, according to Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto.
Sotto told barangay chairmen in the city to open all public roads to traffic as part of clearing operations mandated by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
In a memorandum dated July 30, 2019 but shared on his Facebook page Monday, Sotto said roads “previously limited by their respective barangays to residents, business locators and similar inhabitants” must be open to traffic.
The mayor also ordered barangay officials to remove road obstructions in their communities immediately.
Sotto warned barangay captains against making money from opening roads to the public. He said he has heard reports of officials selling stickers so motorists can enter certain roads.
“Lahat tayo ay maaaring makasuhan at masuspindi. Wag na nating paabutin sa ganito,” the mayor said.
Sotto said he will release on Tuesday the list of all public roads in Pasig that should be available to the public.
